EMCI Accommodations Services

EMCI Homestay

The best way to learn about the Canadian way of life is to live in a Homestay with a Canadian family. Living in a Canadian home will help you to experience Canada in two distinct ways that living on your own will not. First of all, living in a Homestay will help you to improve your confidence speaking English more rapidly than living on your own because you will be able to practice speaking everyday in the comfort of your host family’s home.

Secondly, living in a homestay will give you the opportunity to learn about the daily life of a Canadian family. You will be able to share in the daily life of your family by eating dinner with them each night and by participating in some of the family activities they have planned. The bonds that develop between students and their families are something that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Homestay offers you the chance to submerse yourself in Canadian culture and to truly get to know more about Canada.

EMCI Roomstay
If you are looking for a more inexpensive accommodations option, but still want a family to support you when you need it, EMCI Roomstay is the choice for you. EMCI Roomstay families offer the safety and convenience of living in a Canadian home but have more than four students in their house. Instead of interacting with the host family, you will have chance to talk to other international students who are in a same situation as you. The more friendly you are, the more chances you will get to make friends from all over the world!

EMCI Host Families
All EMCI host families have been carefully screened and selected by EMCI representatives for their interests and friendliness. Their homes must be comfortable, clean and be located in safe neighbourhoods with convenient transportation to downtown. Our screening process also involves a detailed application, an in-home visit and an interview. All EMCI host families have signed a contract with us and we contact them regularly. We also keep in touch with all of our homestay students on a regular basis to make sure that everyone is satisfied with their home. Regular home visits and student surveys help us guarantee the quality of life you will experience during your entire stay with an EMCI family.

What you will receive in an EMCI Homestay/Roomstay

EMCI Student House
If you like your independence, are willing and capable of cooking for yourself, doing general housekeeping, your own laundry and household cleaning, the EMCI Student House may be the perfect place for you while your are studying in Vancouver. The EMCI Student house is a fully furnished 4 bedroom home with its own laundry facilities, one shared bathroom, kitchen and living room area. As a resident of the student house you will be responsible for your own shopping, cooking and cleaning as well as the general upkeep and cleanliness of the common areas. How much you interact with the other residents (also international students) of the house is entirely up to you. There are rules (see EMCI STUDENT HOUSE Expectations & Policies) to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents, but overall, if an independent lifestyle suits you, then the EMCI Student House is the perfect place for you to stay while studying in Vancouver.
